Wachovia: Uncommon Bigotry.

Anyone wanna come with me Monday morning at 10 when I picket the Mays Landing, NJ branch of Wachovia Bank for the homophobia of their head teller?

Speed of laughable, roar of suckage….

They’re reviving Underdog.

Mind you, they’re not reviving it as a Saturday morning cartoon (on a related note here, who else is old enough to remember when they actually played cartoons on Saturday mornings?) or as an animated feature, or anything else related. They’re doing a live action Underdog movie.

You heard me right. Live action.

In this new movie adaptation, instead of our lowly, humble, and loveable Shoeshine Boy in an anthropomorphic animal city, Underdog (played by Jason Lee) is a stray adopted by a 12-year old boy, who uses his super powers to save Capital City from the evil mechanations of Simon Barsinister (played by Peter Dinklage).

Not one word of the above paragraph is a joke, an exaggeration, or fantasy.

I can already imagine how much it’s going to suck.

Add to this the horrendous new version of Scooby Doo being prepared for the CW network (according to ), and we’re in for some real, heavy duty, suckage trying to pass itself off as the cartoons that we loved as kids.

While we’re all hot and bothered about reviving cartoon characters, may I make a humble suggestion for one that ought to be revived, especially if it’s done correctly?

That’s right. Now that Universal Pictures has a robust and capable animation division again, it’s time to revive Woody Woodpecker. I loved Woody because, like me as a kid (oh, hell, like me now) he was a wiseass who made life for everyone who stood in his way a living hell. He always beat them at their own game, and beat them well.

I can think of at least three voice artists (Rob Paulsen, Grant Baciocco, or Frank Welker) who would do justice to a revived version of Woody, following in the footsteps of such luminaries as Harry Babbitt, Mel Blanc, and Grace Stafford. The new team at Universal Animation are up to the job, and some Woody shorts would be perfect additions to any Universal kids’ or family release…or a new “Woody Woodpecker Show” for NBC Saturday mornings would be great, too.

Hell, it would be a lot better than another “Garfield” movie.

Vote up Queen Victoria

Hey, I’ve gotten a few people sending feedback about the Comics Sherpa feed of The New Adventures Of Queen Victoria saying they are going to consistently vote it down simply because I don’t draw the strip, choosing instead to use clipart and photo manipulation as my medium.

I’d appreciate it if some (or all) of you could click on the link above, and vote the strip back up a few times. It would be nice.

The Demented Cartoon Movie

One of the few things that’s gotten me through the last week’s worth of severe depression has been rediscovering The Demented Cartoon Movie.

If you have never seen it before, and have 32 minutes to spare of your life, be sure to go watch it.

Hey, wanna host a radio show?

For personal reasons, I need to take some time off from my radio show. Actually, I’ve needed to take time off for several weeks now. If it weren’t for the fact that I managed to get myself a month ahead on “Queen Victoria” right off, absolutely everything would have come crashing down.

Anyhow, I’m looking for people interested in hosting an installment or two of The Pab Sungenis Project. What you’ll need to host the show if you’d be interested are:

(1) Some interest in the material the show usually plays. If you’re not interested, then you probably aren’t interested in hosting, either, so it doesn’t matter.
(2) A sound recording program, which can save as either a WAV or MP3, and a microphone.
(3) Preferably, a few song suggestions for stuff you’d like to play on the show.

If you have all that, and want to host an episode or two, express an interest. My crack staff will assemble the basics of a show, including a playlist, and send you the basics of a script. Rewrite the script a bit to fit your style and to say whatever you want about the songs on your installment of the show, and record your script. We’ll mix your voice in with everything else and send the show out into the world.

Again, if you’d like to do it, and can do it, please let me know so we can slot you in.

Al Gore only invented the Internet…BUSH invented the IPOD!

Apple has long boasted of its culture of innovation, and how this led to such products as the original Mac and the iPod. However, it turns out that, at least in the case of the iPod, Apple had a hidden ally: the US government.

During a speech at Tuskegee University, President (and iPod user) George W. Bush told his audience, “the government funded research in microdrive storage, electrochemistry and signal compression. They did so for one reason: It turned out that those were the key ingredients for the development of the iPod.”

A moment of silence…

TC finally passed this afternoon around 3:15pm. We have an appointment to have her cremated tomorrow morning.

Thank you everyone for your kind words.

The fucking “emergency” vet

Wouldn’t even see her until 10 AM, even to be put down. She is obviously half dead and breathing so shallowly that we’ve thought she was dead several times, but fucking BLUE CROSS ANIMAL HOSPITAL IN VINELAND, NJ, HAS THE COMPASSION OF A PACK OF VULTURES CIRCLING AROUND. When Bryan said that we didn’t think she would last until 10 AM, and even if she did it would be cruel to drag this out that long, the clerk got snotty.

Fuck them. Fuck them right in the ear.

My cat is suffering, and we don’t even have anyone who will ease the pain.

T.C.

For those of you who know us in “real life,” you know our cat, T.C.

It looks like we are going to lose her. After 19 long and fruitful years, she is fading fast and I don’t expect her to make it through the night.

Please keep her, and us, in your thoughts.
