People who want to be in radio, please remember that prank phone calls are one of the oldest shticks in the game. They’re also the most overdone, worst done, and least entertaining hack shticks in the game. There’s a reason Rick Dees, who was the master of the field, doesn’t do them any more. There’s a reason Howard Stern doesn’t have people do them any more. There’s a reason Opie and Anthony and Bob and Tom have people do them: because they suck. Please, if you get a chance to be in the business I love and bemoan the decline of every day, make your own mark and do something original. If you don’t, may this kind of shit happen to your intern.
